Geo.X Early Career Scientists Workshop "AI startups in Geosciences"

Together with the K.I.E.Z. initiative, we were happy to host a workshop on "AI startups in Geosciences". During this workshop, participants developed their own AI-application ideas in teams with the support of K.I.E.Z. experts. We worked out an overview of various application areas and showed attendees how to design a geoscience- and AI-based application with exploitation potential.

Berlin has a lively startup scene and offers a variety of funding possibilities for entrepreneurs. The workshop provided an overview and tools on how to sharpen participants' own ideas. K.I.E.Z. is an initiative of Berlin’s Universities with the goal to fund and establish successful AI ventures.

The era of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has already dawned and offers immense potential, especially in the field of geosciences. Satellite data and other geospatial data open up possibilities for innovative solutions and fields of application – inside and outside of academia.

The experts of K.I.E.Z. supported participants and helped them develop their own concepts for novel and innovative solutions in the AI-Geoscience-Startups Workshop. Attendees expanded their knowledge of AI technology and learned about funding opportunities for ideas with application potential.

The workshop took place at AI Campus Berlin, Max-Ulrich-Str. 3 on May 16th, 2023, from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.

As a keynote speaker, we were pleased to welcome Pooja Pandey, Remote Sensing Specialist and Product Manager at Planet, the leading player in the field of global remote sensing. Pooja provided attendees with valuable insights into the application-oriented use of AI technology in geosciences.
